Luana Laurent : Roseau, Dominica

Student of ACAMS, CEO and Founder of Finance Focus Consultancy along with 10+ years of progressive experience in taxation within the Public Service.

Luana Laurent is an Examiner in the Financial Services Unit. She was
previously employed as a Revenue Officer at the Inland Revenue Division for the past 12 years where she acted in various capacities. Luana is a Post
Graduate of the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business in Trinidad & Tobago where she received the Distinction Award, Programme Director award and Top Academic Student Award in International Finance. She is also an alumnus of the UWI Open Campus –Dominica, where she achieved a Bachelors Degree in Accounting.

Luana established Finance Focus Consultancy in 2017. Through consultancy, she offers business plan preparation, financial projections, accounting services, as well as provides small business and personal finance guidance. She also prepares financial statements for small and medium businesses. She has extended her consultancy by means of pro bono through the creation of a personal finance advice page on Facebook and Instagram; Finance Focus which provides financial tips, advice, available employment opportunities and financial news to approximately 3,000 followers. She also hosts a popular video series called Financial Fridays on the Finance Focus Youtube Page gathering as much as 1,000 views and 300+ subscribers.

Finance Focus partners with individuals and businesses to create comfort when making difficult financial decisions as they aim to reach a higher financial altitude.

Luana has presented to a number of organizations which include the Dominica State College Nursing students, Tourism and Hospitality students and St Martin Secondary Rotary –Interact Club, Leo Club Dominica, Castle Bruce Secondary School, Orientation at the Dominica State College, Youth Group at Bethesda Methodist Church, Grade 6 at Convent Preparatory School, the Board of the Rotaract Club of Roseau and Lions Club Dominica. She has also been featured in the Chronicle Newspaper’s article, “Conversations with…” written by Roxanne Christian and “Money Talk” with Digicel Online.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading and puzzles and the occasional good
time with friends and family. She is also involved in various event-planning
activities. Luana is a member of the Rotary Club of Dominica and current Treasurer. She is also the Vice President of the University of the West Indies Alumni Association, Dominica Chapter.
